The color of objects in nature varies a lot. The reason why objects appear color is because of the color of the object itself, and because of the light. It can be seen how much light contributes to the color of an object. The main purpose of using a standard light source box to evaluate the color of an object is to provide a uniform standard lighting environment.
The object appears green in daylight because the object feeds back the green information in visible light to human vision. After receiving this signal, the vision passes to the brain, and we get the information that the object appears green. An object reflects green light, and other visible spectrums are absorbed by it. However, if we observe under a sodium light, this object is not green, because there is no green component in sodium light, the importance of visible light sources and standard light source boxes.
It is not difficult to see from the above description that the color of an object changes with the change of spectral components. If an object reflects light completely, then the object we see is white. If it absorbs light completely, then what we see is black, which is optically called white and black.
Color can be divided into achromatic and colored. The achromatic color defined in chromaticity refers to black and white gray, where gray refers to all grays between black and white. In the color evaluation in a standard light source box, the colors on the black and white series represent the brightness in reflectance. Under normal circumstances, the higher the reflectance, the closer it is to white; the lower it, the closer to black. Color is all colors except black and white and gray. The different wavelengths of the spectrum are visually expressed as the hue of various colors, such as red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, and purple.
Using a standard light source box to detect color, the operator must be aware of the three basic attributes of color, namely hue, saturation, and lightness. These three combinations form a unified overall effect.
